Thing03 Photo Fun

  I chose to combine my retirement project along

 with the next step of my life following retirement

 this year and learn a bit about Instagram in the 

 process. Really don't use much of the social media 

 thing and think that at times it is a detriment to how

 people communicate. This becomes especially true 

 in it seems all classroom situations as it has become

 a constant battle with all students.

  Anyways,back to business. Since I teach CTE classes

in our district and place a great value on Hands-on 

learning I decided to feature a poster outlining what my

business would be all about and decided to make this

a lesson in my Business Class. The "Change The World 

Project" would allow each student to share their ideas 

 for their own business and create a similar but not 

identical poster describing their choice of a business.

This would have to include photos, graphics and 

manipulation of text all available on the Poster my 

wall website. The nice thing about it is that it had several 

templates for use in the classroom which would be great

for the diverse population that we see in the RCSD. 

  The nice thing about it allowed you to download a small 

about the size of a small flyer size for free. My favorite 

thing about this it was very, very user friendly and is just 

ideal for high school students! 

  One issue I did have was I wanted to add my own photos to the poster and I imported them into remove.bg because they had terrible backgrounds and I wanted to remove the backgrounds.  But, remove.bg only removes backgrounds if there is at least one person in the picture.  That was a bummer.

THING # 2 Student Blogging and Writing

STUDENT BLOGGING AND WRITING - THING #2

    Topics, Topics Topics! One of the most critical parts of blogging is finding your subject matter that is relevant to the student. In completing the reading tasks for tools I believe the key here would be to start them out with something simple to blog about.
    For instance, how about the Cool things about their Neighborhoods where they live. What builds those communities and how do we bring some of their ideas to the Classroom? Maybe it's a Rec Center, a place of worship, a particular sport etc. If the topic is interesting than I believe the readings become much more relevant than just speaking about the Ten things that you would like to see them use when writing a blog. I like the guidelines but these must be taught in an enjoyable manner. The topic of Cyber safety mentioned in this article is probably the most important item in these lists.
    Following Cyber safety I believe the Mechanics such as post, draft, media, publish are also critical from day 1. These short skills should be done and completed by utilizing a worksheet listing these items every time they blog to get this to become second nature in developing the steps you want them to use in your classroom.

Hello everyone!

 My name is Ed Dyminski and I am a Business teacher in our district. I have been an educator for twenty seven years and plan to retire at the end of this year. Currently I am at the Leadership Academy for Young men at Charlotte. I transferred here at the beginning of this school year. My heart belongs to Edison Tech as that is where I began my career and truly miss my NYSSA students from the previous two years. It amazes me following three consecutive highly effective ratings that the bump that all out the window and start you at square one once again. ( ed's rule why mess up a positive learning environment to put you in a negative learning environment ) . It is what it is I guess.

 I'm taking this class to further my skills for my students and also to begin some new skills. Welcome everyone!
